ORIGIN

From the Himalayas, to Your Cup

This tea comes from the same hillside gardens as the rest of our lineup, on slopes between 3,000 and 7,000 feet in eastern Nepal. What makes it oolong isn't the plant or the elevation — it's a processing step none of our other teas go through.

Every leaf here is still hand-picked, the way it's been done on these hillsides for generations, by farming families Himalko buys directly from. No brokers stacked in between, no blending in leaf from elsewhere to stretch a batch.

CRAFT

Stopped halfway, on purpose

Oolong isn't a separate plant from green or black tea — it's the same leaf, oxidized only partway. That in-between point is judged by hand, not a machine timer.

01

Pluck

Slightly more mature leaf sets, taken by hand from gardens at 3,000–7,000 ft.

02

Wither

Withered outdoors in the sun, then moved inside to continue slowly.

03

Bruise

Edges are gently bruised by hand-tumbling, kick-starting oxidation only around the rim of each leaf.

04

Partial oxidize

Oxidation is watched by eye and stopped partway — the exact point that defines this tea's character.

05

Roll & fire

Rolled into shape and fired to lock in that oxidation level for good.

TASTING NOTES

Complex. Layered. In-Between.

Straight from the product description, in plain terms.

AROMA

Floral up front, with a warmer, slightly toasty undertone from the partial oxidation.

PALATE

Sits between green's freshness and black's richness — never fully one or the other.

FINISH

Long and evolving — the flavor genuinely shifts across a second and third steep.

WHY THIS TEA

Why buy this over the grocery-store box?

1

Direct from the farm

Himalko buys straight from small growers in Nepal — fewer middlemen, fresher leaf, and more of what you spend actually reaches the people who grew it.

2

Hand-bruised, not machine-timed

Getting oolong right depends on judgment, not a timer. Most mass-market oolong is processed on a fixed schedule regardless of how the leaf is actually behaving that day.

3

Single-origin, traceable

Every batch comes from the same hillside gardens — no blending in filler leaf from elsewhere to bulk up the box.

4

Rewards multiple steeps

Oolong is the tea most worth re-steeping — the flavor genuinely changes cup to cup, which cheap broken-leaf oolong can't do.

HIMALKO LOOSE LEAF
TYPICAL TEA BAG
Leaf Quality
Whole leaf, hand-rolled
Dust and fannings — the leftover bits too small to sell whole
Flavor
Layered, evolves as it steeps
Flat and one-note — brews fast, tastes shallow
Oxidation Judgment
Stopped by hand, judged leaf by leaf
Run on a fixed machine schedule regardless of the leaf
Re-Steeping
Good for 2–3 infusions
Spent after one steep — nothing left in the dust
Packaging
One pouch, reusable infuser
Bag, string, paper tag, and individual wrapper — most of it single-use
Traceability
Single garden, single harvest
Usually a blend of lots from multiple countries and harvests
BREWING

How to brew it right

LEAF
1 tbsp
2–3g per 8oz water
WATER
185–200°F
Just below boiling
STEEP
3–4 min
Shorten each re-steep slightly
One 2oz pouch brews up to 20 cups; the 4oz size stretches to 43 — plenty to figure out your ideal steep time.
Recyclable packaging. Every tin ships in a curbside-recyclable cardboard tube, not plastic — one more small way to keep this closer to the way tea used to come.
ECO-FRIENDLY
AIR-SEAL LID
KEEPS FRESHNESS
FOIL-LINED INTERIOR

What actually shows up at your door

This is the real tube — mountain-line logo, a hand-drawn tea shoot on the front, and the full brew guide (hot, iced, and cold-brew instructions) printed right on the back, so you're never digging through a drawer for a card you lost.

No shrink-wrap, no plastic tin, no printed inserts to throw away separately. Just one recyclable tube, front to back.

A thin foil liner sits inside the tube itself — isolating the leaf from outside air and moisture — so the outer packaging can stay simple cardboard without the tea losing freshness.

Wonderful experience from the First Sip

my wife has bought me Himalko Oolong Black Tea for my birthday, and it was a wonderful experience from the first sip. The tea has a smooth, well-balanced flavor with gentle floral notes and a light roasted finish that makes it both refreshing and comforting. The leaves unfurl beautifully while brewing, showing their quality, and the taste stays consistent even after multiple steeps. It’s a great choice for anyone who enjoys a rich, aromatic oolong that feels both premium and relaxing to drink.

Real Tea Experience

Right after opening the package, I knew that this will be an amazing tea. It exceeds all my expectations of what drinking a pure and premium tea should be like. I feel revived, when I drink this delicious tea. When I brewed that lasts through the first two brewing nicely. I was able to get a drinkable 3rd brewing from it. Love the flavor and experience. Now, this is a real tea experience. Thank you for a quality product.
